Lorena's work is mostly in pure silver and bronze metal clay. It is an extraordinary process from clay to finished product, that she freely shares. Showing her processes in pictures and she answers questions readily.
She has had booths at the Art show in Baltimore and Fiesta Texas, a yearly event that draws people from all over the world as well as trunk shows and other events. She has also taught classes, this past week to some very talented.young students at Say SĂ but she also teaches
in Austin, Texas at The Creative Side Jewelry Academy.
Ms. Angulo has published a book,My RAD Journey, about her Ring a Day experiences in 2010. She has taught at the Southwest School of Art, had her bronze work on the cover of the Journal of International PMC Guild "Revisiting Bronze Clay", was a featured artist in the Metal Clay Today magazine,Spring 2010, Cover of Metal Clay Artist Magazine July 2010...
Lorena also has the book Behind the Brooch: A Closer Look at Backs, Catches, and Pin Stems. Published by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (2014). This book features the back of brooches, the mechanisms that close the brooches, as well as the lovely designs that re added to many, many brooches. Usually these go unnoticed, but the pictures are lovely and each brooch is unique. There is a Pinterest .board showing many, many wonderful backs here
Honestly... The list is on and on... She even designed a line of templates for QuickArt and can be purchased through PMC Connections and Metal Clay Supply.
I fell in love with the Sugar Skulls she makes, as well as the tree of life. Each is different, each with it's own character. The details are extraordinary considering how small some of the work is. The birds in the tree of life are tiny.
Lorena has come a long way since 2006. Her skills are being honed daily, and her artwork is amazing. The detail she puts into the Milagro Hearts is spectacular, and the detail to the back of the pieces is wonderful.
Lorena went through a difficult journey after being diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in 2013. But she never let that slow her down, after having surgery, she still was able to create and teach others to make and appreciate the timeless folk art she is so adept at making. I say "folk art" but it is so much deeper than that.
She describes herself as a Mexican Artist, and she draws heavily on her native history for her work, but she takes those 'folk' designs to a higher level, using her keen eye for detail and a bit of whimsy.
