I could talk all day long about jewelry, it is a passion that I carry in my brain, in my heart and probably in my hands as well. I think when you repeat something over and over, it becomes ingrained in your body. The way musicians practice the scales and fingering combinations... it is that repetitive motion that never leaves you, probably haunts you in your sleep!
Hi,
My name is Marie, and I'm a jewelry addict.
I've been hooked for most of my life, starting when I was just a small child stringing beads and buttons... then later on my grandmother taught me to weave on a loom, then off loom, then to crochet with seed beads and pearls, and to use metal wire along with beads to create necklaces and earrings...
When I was grown, I wanted to learn to work in metal, starting with sculptures, which led me to delve into making more jewelry! I have never lost the craving for something new, some challenging technique, some new color or style of bead, some gemstone that is intriguing.
This year, for the 31 Days writing challenge, I wanted to look into jewelry, not only making it, but the history and makers of jewelry. Surely there is no better way to spend the month of October, than to read about jewelry!
I hope you will join along with me in this journey into the 31 Days of writing. The month will be filled with pictures, information, and examples of artists in the field of metal smiting, bead work, and gemstone cutting. I want to also include sales, since jewelry has become a multi-billion dollar business, yet there are many that still have the hands on approach when it comes to making and selling their wares.
