Style

Style:
a particular way in which something is done, created, or performed
: a particular form or design of something
: a way of behaving or of doing things

What is your style?
In working in metals, my style is more a bohemian/Celtic/rustic look? I don't even know what that means.... but it has come to be what my "style' is...
Rustic, in that I like things that look less polished, less refined...
Celtic, because I use knots and knotwork representations in a lot of my work, and
Bohemian, well... because the pieces I make are probably going to be worn by people who are more unconventional and have an artistic flair.

What really is style in jewelry?

I know people that make jewelry that might cost $15 bucks. I know people that make jewelry that costs closer to a million... what is the major difference? Other than the use of  precious metals and precious gemstones, what is the major difference? Mostly the style? Mostly the workmanship that goes into making something stylish? Probably so.

The workmanship in constructing a piece of fine jewelry is extraordinary. It takes a person years to perfect their skills at working with metal and stone to be able to form a piece of jewelry that is timeless, flawless, and has appeal to the public at large. Or to one person...

For me, the ability to create a piece of jewelry that doesn't have a flaw, is not quite achieved. I have tried and tried to perfect my solder ability but it still end up needing more refinement. Though, on a larger piece... I'm pretty good. I'm good at brazing! lol...
So, when a jeweler works for years and years, perfecting the product, learning by trial and error what methods work for them, and they have studied and created and achieved a level of refinement in their work... what 'style' does their work fall into?

Any... from Bohemian to Classical.

I looked at InStyle magazine, The New Yorker, Texas Monthly, Marie Claire, Stylist, Veranda, all had "styles" but nothing definite... other than classic is "in", as well as bohemian, eclectic...etc...

wikipedia comes up with this descriptin:  considering the aesthetic, functional, economic and sociopolitical dimensions of both the design object and design process. It may involve considerable research, thought, modeling, interactive adjustment, and re-design.

Does any of that give you a sense of style?

To me, the definitions are like this(and this is not, by any means, actual definition):

Classical:  Having a timeless beauty that can be worn with anything, light colors, rich colors
Art Deco: Having a style that works well with flowing lines, clean, uncluttered, pastels
Modern: Very sleek, very geometric shapes, white, bright, bright colors
Southwestern: As having a touch of Native look, as well as Cowboy trappings, earth tones, muted colors, fringe, rounded corners
Bohemian:  Dangles, coins, lots of color, lots of pattern rich colors, deep tones
Rustic:  Not finished, not refined, less expensive materials, simple shapes, simple design.
Punk:  Vinyl, acrylic, stainless steel, geometric, sharp shapes, a little edgy dark colors mixed with bright, vibrant colors
Goth:  Dark, vampyre, verging on Art Deco, a bit morbid and a bit classical
Folk:  Simple shapes, animals, nature, rounded edges, bright colors

Anyone else have ideas on what style is? I'd love to hear your opinions!
